Neurotoxicology for the Disinterested Scientist

The "Seminars in Toxicology for Public Health" series provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of the chemistry, physiology, industrial hygiene, epidemiology, and toxicology of environmental contaminants, and to discuss strategies to protect the public from hazardous substances in the environment.

This class is being offered both in a classroom setting as well as via a live net conference.  For participation information please visit the links below.

Prerequisites
Participants should have a basic understanding of epidemiology and toxicology.

Objectives
Detailed learning objectives for this particular talk are provided in the agenda. At the completion of this educational series, participants will be able to:

  • Summarize the chemical nature of the toxic substance(s) discussed in this seminar.
  • Describe the health effects of the toxic substance(s) discussed in this seminar.
  • Develop strategies to communicate to potentially exposed populations the nature of health risks associated with the toxic substance(s) discussed during this seminar.
  • Evaluate the information presented in this seminar as it relates to public health issues encountered at hazardous waste sites.

Continuing Education Certification
This course is accredited for the following:

CME: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CNE: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited as a provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This activity provides 1.5 contact hours.

CHES: CDC is a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is a designated event for the CHES to receive 1.5 Category I Contact Hour(s) in health education. CDC provider number GA0082.

CEU: The CDC has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 8405 Greensboro Drive, Suite 800, McLean, VA 22102. The CDC is authorized by IACET to offer 0.15 CEU's for this program.

In order to get continuing education credits and/or a course completion certificate with the number of contact hours you must fill out an online course evaluation form. Note that you must be present for the entire course time designated in the agenda to receive a course completion certificate.
