Carbon Offsets 101
Hosted by Northwest Environmental Training Center

Description: This two-day class will cover the entire start-to-finish process of creating a carbon offset project. This class will begin with scoping a potential idea, determining eligibility under the various carbon standards and trading markets, and discussing financing options for performing the necessary work. The class will cover the analysis and modeling necessary to accurately determine the carbon benefits of your project, the validation and verification process, and on-going project monitoring. Finally, this class will present the "end-game" steps of tracking your project's offsets on a registry and finding buyers for the offsets.

This course will tour one or more potential carbon offset projects in our area, giving participants a hands-on opportunity to learn how a real project operates. Participants are encouraged to bring examples of their own project ideas to add to the course discussions.
Registration: Early Bird rate until Sept. 24, 2010 - $445/$345; $495/$395* thereafter (* reduced tuition is available for Native American tribes; government employees; nonprofits; students; and AFS, NAEP, NEBC, NWAEP members). You may register via the link below or by calling the Northwest Environmental Training Center at 206-762-1976.
