Description: This two day course will cover the Endangered Species Act (ESA) at a federal and state level and Habitat Conservation and Restoration. Attendees will learn about the statutory, administrative and academic evolution of the ESA. The course will cover how many policy elements and property rights are core outgrowths of the ESA.
Habitat Conservation and Restoration will incorporate ESA requirements. The foundations for habitat conservation and biodiversity, restoration goals, and types of biomes will be discussed. To properly plan for a conservation/restoration program attendees will learn about such topics as species’ food and nutrition, counting animals, experimental management, site location and geographic elements, including cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. The course will finish with an analysis summarization of restoration opportunities, constraints, phasing and implementation.
