General Information
Event Name: Incident Commander
Hosted By: Environmental Response Training Program (ERTP)
ERT - OSRTI
Event Description:

This course is designed to train personnel in the roles and responsibilities of an Incident Commander in a Type 2 Incident Management Team. The course covers the Leadership, Mobilization, Incident Management, Administration, and Demobilization of a Type 2 IMT. This is accomplished through lectures and short exercises. A closed book test is administered at the conclusion of the class. A score of 70% is mandatory for successful completion of the course.

Target Group
This course is intended for U.S. EPA and U.S. Coast Guard personnel who have completed Incident Command System I-100, 200, 300, 400, IS-700b and IS-800c, level courses.

Objectives
After completing the course, participants will be able to:

  • Define and describe the role of the Incident Commander in managing complex extended all risk incidents
  • Describe the role of the Incident Commander in leading an Incident Management Team
  • Identify the Incident Management Team's role in using appropriate interpersonal communication skills and management principles necessary for effective and efficient incident management
