This training will provide OSCs from each Region with hands-on experience in the following areas: handheld monitors, sampling, decontamination, personnel decontamination, laboratory analysis, waste management, health effects and medical countermeasures, and generating clearance values. The training will feature demonstrations from the PHILIS mobile labs, the ASPECT aerial detection system, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Chemical Biological Center (CBC). The desired outcome of the training is to provide a better prepared nation of emergency response personnel to respond to chemical warfare incidents. EPA responders will train together on new methods and techniques and bring these skills back to their Regions to train their whole response team.
