| Event Description: |
Superfund Overview provides a broad overview of the Superfund program, covering its core objectives, historical evolution, and the current technical and programmatic concerns. The webinar (1) introduces the key statutory provisions of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and the regulatory framework of the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP) and (2) describes the removal, remedial, and enforcement response authorities, detailing their implementation, and outlines CERCLA and NCP provisions that mandate state involvement and community engagement in response activities.
Superfund Overview is recommended for staff new to EPA, student interns and those new to the Superfund program. It also serves as a good refresher for more experienced Superfund staff.
Additional Information: Upon request, a classroom or virtual session can also be tailored for EPA managers, spanning 2.5 to 4 hours to allow for discussion and review of program initiatives, technical matters, and other priority topics.
