Bioreactor Seminar
Hosted by U.S. EPA - Region 6
Office of Solid Waste

Description
A bioreactor landfill operates to rapidly transform and degrade organic waste. The increase in waste degradation and stabilization is accomplished through the addition of liquid and air to enhance microbial processes. The overall objective of the bioreactor seminar is to decrease landfill volume and further reduce the need to construct new landfill sites.

Goals
The goals of this workshop are to:
  • Educate individuals on bioreactor technology;
  • Evaluate the advancing landfill technology; and
  • Discuss the field studies and laboratory results that investigate effectiveness of mechanisms designed to degrade municipal waste.
Invitees
EPA invites all key landfill representatives, companies, vendors of bioreactors, local, regional State and federal levels, representatives, universities, professional organizations such as SWANA and ASTSWMO, applicable non-profit and grassroots environmental organizations, and public think-tanks addressing relevant issues to attend. For general information contact Wally O'Rear (TechLaw, Inc.) by telephone at 972-754-0638 (Fax: 972-754-0819) or via e-mail at worear@techlawinc.com
