Avian Influenza Train-the-Trainer Course
(presented in a live classroom format as well as a simultaneous live webcast)

The course is designed for OSCs in order to prepare them for their potential role in the Disposal Unit per the NRP should a large outbreak of avian influenza occur, or for what to do in the event of a flu pandemic. The official USDA guidance on avian influenza preparedness and response including a document from OSHA they rely on for choice of PPE will be presented. USDA will also provide a detailed discussion of the available means of carcass disposal and their pros and cons. EPA's role in AI incidents, environmental persistence and methods of decontamination will be reviewed and an overview on pandemic flu will be provided. The course will also review HHS guidance on worker health and safety in the event of a flu pandemic. Finally, OSCs will have the opportunity to ask the questions they have pertinent to these responses to authorities from these lead agencies in addition to a subject matter expert from EPA.

This class is being presented in a live classroom format and there will also be a simultaneous live webcast of the class available.
