This course is an instructor led, hands-on introduction to the use of the software tools of TOPHAT (formerly FFIMS) in the creation of documents, tables and figures to include in a Health Assessment or Health Consultation. A realistic case study is followed to give practical experience in using TOPHAT to characterize, document, and communicate some aspects of the contamination, health risks, and community concerns at a hazardous waste site.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to obtain the TOPHAT program for their personal computers.
- Describe the four main modules that comprise the TOPHAT application.
- List three types of data output that may be obtained from TOPHAT.
- Describe how to use TOPHAT to address site-specific community health concerns.
This training is designed for NCEH/ATSDR staff and NCEH/ATSDR partner staff who prepare public health products or conduct community involvement/health education/health intervention activities as part of the health assessment process. Registration is now open to environmental public health professionals in local, county, state and federal agencies.
