Oil Spill Exercise Watch Hill Spill
Hosted by U.S. Coast Guard and the RI Dept. of Environmental Management

You are invited to attend and participate in the U.S. Coast Guard Preparedness for Response Exercise Program (PREP) oil spill exercise WATCH HILL SPILL.

The National Preparedness for Response Exercise Program (PREP) was developed to establish a workable exercise program that meets the intent of section 4202(a) of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA 90). PREP provides a mechanism for compliance with the exercise requirements. PREP is a unified federal effort and satisfies the exercise requirements of the USCG, EPA, Pipeline and HAZMAT Safety Administration, and Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.

This year’s annual exercise is a two-day full-scale oil spill response exercise in southern RI. The first day will be a full incident command post operating through the first operational period. The second day will involve equipment deployment to exercise potential geographic response strategies.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact either the U.S. Coast Guard or RI Dept. of Environmental Management.
