Project Management Fundamentals for Remedial Project Managers
Hosted by U.S. EPA
Region 9

The Project Management Fundamentals Course is an introductory training course that provides a comprehensive examination of the technical and practical issues that Remedial Project Managers (RPM) must address as they manage multi-dimensional projects within the EPA. In this comprehensive course, participants will learn the fundamentals of project management: how to initiate, plan, and execute a project that meets objectives and satisfies stakeholders. This course provides a step-by-step guide to planning and executing a project. Working through case studies with real-world scenarios, they will interact with fellow students to learn and apply the methodologies and best practices of formal project management. By taking the course, participants will discover the approaches and techniques that make project managers successful, covering topics such as:

  • Project Management Planning
  • Developing Project Scope
  • Defining the Project Schedule
  • Establishing and Managing the Project Budget
  • Utilizing Project Resources
  • Managing Project Quality
  • Controlling Project Risk

During class, project management theory will be interspersed with practical exercises. Participants will learn proven methodologies and explore how practical project management skills can be applied to the projects they manage.

This course is designed for RPMs and other environmental professionals who have the responsibility to initiate and manage projects or tasks in the Superfund program.
Registration is open to any federal, state, local, or trival government participant, with priority given the U.S. EPA registrants.
