Wetlands are some of the world’s most biologically diverse ecosystems, and their existence enriches the wide variety of species that inhabit them as well as the towns and cities that are built nearby. Urban and commercial development, industrial expansion and the changing climate all pose significant threats to the highly valuable but sensitive ecosystems.
