Nanotechnology and OSWER: New Opportunities and Challenges

The purpose of this symposium is to present and discuss technical issues relevant to nanotechnology and waste management practices with a primary focus on the life cycle of nanomaterials and policy issues. Topics of discussion may include:
  • Overview of Nanotechnology and the Environment

  • Life Cycle of Nanomaterials

  • Potential Toxicity of Nanomaterials

  • Detection and Characterization of the Nanomaterials in the Environment

  • Fate and Transport of Nanomaterials in the Environment

  • Waste Management of Nanomaterials

  • Review of Regulations, Positions, Policies, and Actions for Nanomaterials

  • Panel Discussion on Policy
