Triad Partners' Strategic Planning Meeting
Hosted by U.S. EPA
Office of Superfund Remediation and Technology Innovation

EPA's Office of Superfund Remediation and Technology Innovation (OSRTI) will hold a 2-day strategic planning meeting of its core Triad partners on March 16-17, 2005, at the Hilton Crystal City National Airport, in Arlington, VA.

Triad partner organizations have greatly increased the cost-effectiveness and success rates for their own clean-up projects by employing the Triad approach. The "Triad initiative" extracts lessons learned from the partners' project experience and transfers that knowledge and experience to the rest of the environmental community through published literature articles, web sites, government documents, case studies, conference presentations, classroom and Internet-based training, and site-specific technical support.

A growing number of organizations are joining the "Triad family," and Triad has gained increasing visibility throughout the environmental community. Therefore there is a need to bring key Triad partners together to formulate long-range plans to 1) adapt clean-up programs to be more "Triad-friendly," 2) develop more effective technology transfer and training mechanisms, and 3) provide technical support to novice Triad practitioners.  It is also apparent that the current Triad working group has evolved into an interagency Triad "Community of Practice" (see http://www.dssc.org/frc/CommPracWS.htm), for which formal managerial recognition and support is desirable. With the assistance of a professional, Triad-knowledgeable facilitator, this planning meeting will be devoted to discussing these goals and strategies to achieve them.
