OSC Readiness Training Program

Introduction

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will host its 12th Annual On-Scene Coordinator (OSC) Readiness Training Program from February 9 through 12, 2009 in San Diego, California. The training program continues to ensure the readiness of EPA OSCs nationwide by focusing on EPA's efforts to implement EPA's National Approach to Response and build partnerships with local, state, and other Federal responders but also with members of EPA's Response Support Corps.

Various EPA offices work as a team with OSCs from across the country to develop training specifically for OSCs by OSCs. They include:

  • office of land and emergency management (OSWER)
    • Office of Emergency Management (OEM)
      • Oil Program Staff
      • National Decontamination Team (NDT)
    • Office of Superfund Remediation and Technology Innovation (OSRTI)
      • Technology Innovation and Field Services Division
      • Environmental Response Team (ERT)
  • Office of Air and Radiation (OAR)
    • Office of Radiation and Indoor Air (ORIA)
      • Radiological Emergency Response Team (RERT)

Objectives

The objectives of the OSC Readiness Training Program are to:

  • Allow OSCs to strengthen the knowledge and skills essential to their successful job performance.
  • Provide a diverse learning experience that OSCs can attend in a single week at a single location.
  • Achieve inter-regional networking among OSCs and showcase regional case studies, current tools, and resources available to OSCs.
