U.S.-Mexico Border 2020 Waste Policy Forum Meeting

The purpose of the Waste Policy Forum meeting in Tijuana is to identify waste and sustainable materials management issues and priorities for 2015-2016. Projects from all parts of the U.S.-Mexico border carried out in the first two years of the Border 2020 program (2013-2014) will be reviewed. Participants will be invited to discuss future project areas and ideas.

The Waste Policy Forum concentrates on border-wide and multi-regional waste and sustainable materials management issues that affect communities in the U.S-Mexico border area.

In the past the forum has coordinated on issues such as scrap tires, lead-acid batteries, and trans-boundary movement of hazardous waste, but any issue related to Goal 3, promotion of materials management, waste management, and clean sites can be addressed.

Topics planned for this year include: managing e-waste, processing end-of-life vehicles, recycling of spent lead-acid batteries, and revitalizing canals.

This meeting is free to attend. Meals are not included.

A meeting agenda will be sent out by the end of January.
