CEC Presents...Superfund Overview for EPA Interns and New Staff is a 2.5-hour session designed for student interns and staff new to the Superfund program. Attendees will be given a broad overview of the Superfund program, including its primary core objectives, its evolution over time, and the current technical and programmatic concerns. The session (1) introduces the attendees to the major statutory provisions of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and the regulatory framework of the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP) and (2) describes the three response authorities and how they are implemented and the CERCLA and NCP provisions that require State involvement and community engagement for response activities. Each session will be delivered via Microsoft Teams and will include interactive polls, quizzes and scenarios. Closed captioning will be provided in Teams for the session.
