RPM 201
Hosted by U.S. EPA
Office of Superfund and Emergency Management
|
RPM 201 prepares Remedial Project Managers (RPMs) to tackle the challenges they will face during all phases of a remedial action. The course covers consideration and management of common issues or concepts at sites such as vapor intrusion, sediment removal, contaminated groundwater plumes, and strategic sampling approaches. Additionally, the course emphasizes project management concepts such as smart scoping for environmental investigation and best practices for data management. The course features case studies that allow participants to apply the skills learned and provides time for RPMs to ask specific questions about their current sites, as well as discuss emerging technical and programmatic policies and guidance from Headquarters. Note course content /modules vary from one course delivery to another, based on the host region’s training needs.
Course Objectives:
-
Gain insights into managing common issues or concepts at remedial action sites, such as contaminated sediment remediation and groundwater restoration.
-
Enhance project management skills, including resource and cost forecasting, meeting planning, site activity documentation, and schedule and cost tracking.
-
Learn effective strategies for communicating various site issues to residents and communities.
-
Understand how to incorporate optimization into new and existing remedial actions.
RPM 201 is an intermediate-level training course recommended for EPA Superfund RPMs with at least two years’ experience, particularly those who have assisted other RPMs with remedial actions or are now preparing to lead a remedial action. The course may also be valuable to EPA remedial program staff as well as state and tribal site managers.
