Event Description:

Waste Treatment, Transportation and Disposal focuses on specific technical and regulatory issues that removal and other personnel must address when treating, transporting and disposing of waste. The course provides guidance on overseeing the major steps involved in procuring cost-effective and efficient treatment, transportation and disposal of waste. It delves into the complex definitions of solid and hazardous waste, offering real-life examples to help determine whether wastes are classified as RCRA hazardous during a removal action. The course highlights some obvious and subtle aspects that can enhance the waste transportation and disposal process. Participants will gain insights from experienced professionals on identifying and analyzing special waste types and arranging for treatment, transportation and disposal.

The course discusses oversight of the major steps in procuring cost-effective and efficient treatment, transportation and disposal of waste. The course explores the complex definitions of solid and hazardous waste and provides real-life examples of how to decide whether wastes are RCRA hazardous during a removal action. The course stresses some obvious and other less obvious aspects helpful in improving the transportation and disposal process. Participants will obtain information from experienced professionals about the process of identifying and analyzing special waste types and to arrange for treatment, transportation and disposal of waste.

Course Objectives:

  • Learn a step-by-step approach to the treatment, transportation and disposal of waste. 
  • Discover practical recommendations for improving the treatment, transportation and disposal process. 
  • Master information about the identification and analysis of waste. 

Waste Treatment, Transportation and Disposal is an advanced-level training recommended for EPA Superfund On-Scene Coordinators (OSCs) and other EPA removal program personnel responsible for planning the treatment, transportation and disposal of wastes generated from removal actions. This course may also be valuable to other EPA staff, including Remedial Project Managers (RPMs), site assessment managers, remedial program staff, and members of Special Teams. 

THIS COURSE IS NOT OPEN TO OTHER FEDERAL AGENCIES, STATES, LOCAL AGENCIES, TRIBES, ACADEMIA, CONTRACTORS, CONSULTANTS OR OTHER PRIVATE ENTITIES.

This course is offered free of charge to all registrants who are confirmed to attend.

For EPA Participants: The CERCLA Education Center (CEC) has prepared a Group SF-182 for this training. The approved form will be emailed to all EPA participants when it has been approved.
