Oil Response Training - Combined Backwater and Fast Water
This Combined Back water/Fast water Course exercising the local Geographic Response Plan (GRP) is designed to meet the requests of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Federal On-Scene Coordinators (FOSCs) in their regions. Participants will deploy boom on lakes and rivers; establish oil recovery sites; provide protection to sensitive areas and shoreline with boom; operate boats on lakes and rivers; install dikes, dams and filter fences on streams; and install French drains and cut-off walls. Instructional methods will include classroom instruction and field work. After completion of the course, the participants will be able to demonstrate or discuss small boat operations, various methods of oil boom deployment and anchoring, recovery site selection and operations, and health and safety issues relevant to oil spill response and recovery operations. All this will be based on the selection of course materials to be presented. Class size is limited to 25 students. In compliance with Executive Order 13589 - Promoting Efficient Spending, Section 5; the ERTP will not be regularly printing or providing students hard copies of the course manual.
