Each module should take the participant approximately 15-30 minutes to complete. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate. This training qualifies for 4 CLPs/.4 CEUs.
Basic Overview of Superfund Online, a computer-based training course, provides an overview of the purpose, legal framework, and implementation of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Throughout this interactive and easy-to-follow course, participants explore the activities performed under the Superfund program. The following modules make up the on-line course:
- Overview of CERCLA
- Statutory and Regulatory Framework
- Discovery, Notification, and Initial Site Assessment
- Removal Process
- Remedial Process
- Liability and Enforcement
- Community Involvement
- Federal Facilities
Note: Newly hired U.S. EPA on-scene coordinators (OSC) and remedial project managers (RPM) still are REQUIRED to take the 3-day classroom Fundamentals of Superfund (offered as part of "Superfund 101") to meet the inspector training requirements set forth under EPA Order 3500.1. This online class DOES NOT meet these training requirements.
**This class is housed on the ERTPVU website (see link below). If you are a first-time user, click on "Register" and follow the instructions to set up a user name and password. Once you are logged in, click on "On-Line Courses." Then click on "Module Information and Enrollment" in the picture. Find "Basic Overview of Superfund Online," click on it, and click on "Take Course."
Important Notice: Due to the content presented during a CEC course and the restrictions in place for non-citizens to enter federal buildings, international attendees are not permitted to attend CEC courses.
